About a Pacing System With SureScan® Technology

Medtronic’s pacemaker with SureScan® Technology is the first and only pacemaker system FDA approved for use in an MRI environment. This technology can be found in a number of pacemakers around the world, including the Advisa MRI and Revo MRI pacemaker in the U.S.

Prior to the FDA approving Revo MRI, Medtronic engaged in research, development and testing for more than a decade to better understand MRI technology and the risks associated with pacemaker/scanner interactions.

The SureScan pacing system includes hardware modifications to the device to reduce or eliminate several hazards produced by the MRI environment. An MRI could change the setting and or temporarily affect the normal operation of a traditional pacemaker.
