About NCOA
The National Council on Aging (NCOA) is a nonprofit service and advocacy organization headquartered in Washington, DC. They serve as a national voice for older Americans and the community, bringing together nonprofit organizations, businesses, and government to develop creative solutions that improve the lives of older adults.
NCOA’s National Institute of Senior Centers (NISC) is the only national organization solely focused on strengthening and supporting the over 11,000 senior centers across the country, which serve over 1 million older adults every day.
Senior centers across the country provide a vibrant, active space where older adults can engage and thrive!

About the Partnership
NCOA is always looking to offer older adults the best resources and programs to help empower them, especially when it comes time to make important health decisions.
NCOA is partnering with Medtronic in the Join the Pace Makers Campaign - to raise awareness of the risks between MRIs and pacemakers, educate patients of treatment options, and inform them that if they do need a pacemaker, there is a new option available that will allow anyone with this device access to an MRI.
This is especially important because the number of patients with pacemakers is growing at the same time that the use of MRI is increasing. An estimated 50-70% of people with a pacemaker may need to undergo an MRI scan at some point of their life.1
NCOA will help educate the public about heart rhythm issues by hosting several seminars in early 2012. Following the seminars, attendees will be invited to put on their dancing shoes and participate in dances that contribute to overall wellness. Join us for a great mix of education and fun at a local senior center.
